SG61 Technology

SG61

KLG has developed a comprehensive hardware and software solution enabling online collection, reconciliation and management of power injected, consumed, metered and billed in T&D network.
SG61 has inbuilt technology based theft protection systems. It also offers network automation and optimization to tackle most of the problems faced by the power sector.
The solution fits within the framework of the Electricity Act 2003, central and state regulatory mechanisms and various socio-political and economic conditions.
SG61 is a technology & business platform backed by patents on hardware, software technology and processes by KLG. This system is available for commercial deployment all over the world.

Implementation & Operations
Step 1 Consumer Indexing
Step 2 Meter Retrofitting One Time Activity
Step 3 System Operations

Step 1 Consumer Indexing

One Time Activity

  • Selection of geographical area in distribution network
  • Development of Geographical Information Systems to record and code
    - Electrical Assets
    - Electrical Network
    - Consumer Spatial and Demographic Data
    - Geographical Attributes
  • Consumer Survey
    - Inspection of all Connections / Meters
    - Reconciliation with Billing Database
    - Updation of Consumer / Meter Data
  • Consumer Indexing
    - Link individual consumer with Network to enable Energy Accounting, Energy Audit and Reconciliation between Energy input into 33/11kV and Consumer Level using 'VIDUSHI' software
Step 2 Meter Retrofitting One Time Activity
  • Retrofitting of Distribution System using existing meters, network cables, transformers and substations with SG61 based Digital Connection Management and Communication Modules (DCMC Module), and Digital Pole Data Management Module (DPD Module)
  • Meters in each premise shall be reinstalled in DCMC Module and connected with DPD Module on distribution poles, transformers and substation
  • Connection of DCMC and DPD Modules to Substation / Master Station Computer System and energizing of 'VIDUSHI' software
Step 3 System Operations
  • General
On energising the system, the substation / master control station shall capture following data online
    - Power consumption of individual consumer up to a resolution as low as 0.5 seconds
    - Real Time Reconciliation of Distribution Transformer, Pole wise, Premise wise, Consumer wise, Power Input and Power Metered
    - Automatically switch off power in case of theft, system tampering, or meter tampering and optionally in case of overloading of system, based on pre-determined threshold levels of Technical & Commercial Losses. The switching off of power can be controlled for individual consumer, selected premises, selected areas, distribution transformer and substations based on interactive software
    - Restoration of power in case of tampering / theft is controlled by software and hardware. It is impossible for individual utility staff or external agency to restore power as same is controlled by high encryption password protocol and audit trail methods
  • Distribution System
Since On Line Real Time information is collected, analysed and collated, the following Distribution Automation and Management features are also available
    - Load balancing and optimisation of 132 / 66 / 33 / 11 kV substation
    - Implementation of ABT regime
    - Short, Medium and Long Term Load Forecasting
    - Network Planning Management and Upgradation
    - Data Mining
  • Revenue Management
    - Reduction in Billing Cycle
    - Accuracy of Billing - Collusion between Meter Reader & Consumer is eliminated
    - Various modes of payment - Prepaid Smart Card, Credit Card, Cash, Bank, Internet Banking
    - DT and 11kV feeder-wise Energy Audit
    - Web Enablement of all Data. Intranet for Utility and Consumers
